In the 19th century Velká Úpa and Pec pod Sněžkou experienced a great development of tourism. The local people were aware of the need to provide tourists with easily accessible destinations. One of the initiatives was the establishment of a beautification association with the task of creating tourist paths. One of them, in Velká Úpa, led from the church along the cemetery wall with a connection to the now yellow-marked path to Hlušiny and Vlašské boudy. The last ten maples of the avenue are still there.

From the path there is a beautiful view of the church and Přední and Prostřední Výsluní.
